INTERVENTION

The aim is to create a pavilion structure were street performers can perform in. The open site creates a fascinating space where it draws people from around the area of Deptford with the usage of sound and lighting. It allows street performers to stage their acts so that by passers can experience their talent.

DRAFT 1
Image 1: First model demonstrating the potential layout of my intervention. The ground is lowered to maintain negative space and i am starting to intoduce the idea of paths through the structure to create "moments" of interaction. Image 2: 3dsmax model as i start to design the surface playing with scale and layers. Image 3: Perspective of site. Waldron Health Centre in background showing context. Sections taken from "Hard Fact" lie across site to help develope a plan.

INTERVENTION

A spatial intervention aimed to install a series of benches trought Fordham Park, forming part of the architectural interface between interior and the exterior space of the street's public domain. The goal is to provided for a mix of users and fonctions more than just places to sit, places that do not impose a manner of behaving and moving and benches that were attractive with good views, attractive landscaping or interesting architecture. That's why the benches are installed on the top of small hills to raise the height of the users (place of rest, observation and relaxation) and some of them are in the flat floor around the trees and near the paths (place of meeting point and gathering). The materiality and the design of the benches which have to allies conviviality and appropriation are connected to the site and correspond to all sorts of desires.

INTERVENTION

> occupied conceptual model
> the brief:
> 'an architecture which reflects a journey, merging a commerical and organic space, to redefine the journey, drawing on a natural process of growth to refine and humanize a design to address the relationship between the trader and the guild and the environment, under the direction of the architect. this will create an ecosystem in rapid motion, with the ability for a market to plug in/out. it will be a space, which will improve the lives of all who embrace it. it will create the ultimate market experience whilst creating a public place of contrast and beauty.'

INTERVENTION

All Deptford needs is a symbol, a landmark, a calling card for the public, tourists and Londoners to say 'Visit our community', because once this happens everything will change for the better. The pavilion on top of the landmark will encourage the public to look out at the views of Deptford. The design is reminiscent of Yves Klein's fascination with colbalt blue, but the landmark draws the blue from Deptford itself, from the community the blue is extracted and made prominent in a way which will capture the attention of inner city London in aid of regenerating Deptford.
...Because once this happens everything will change for the better.
