TASTE OF DEPTFORD

The Taste of Deptford project is a kitchen facility aimed through various functions to provide a service to the community of Deptford. It was proposed as a response to the great food industry Deptford has to offer.

INTERACTION

The design is a culinary school that will run throughout the year and will double up in function; depending on the season. During summertime, the space will be available to the public as a picnic area or rented by a private individual to hold an event or function. It will switch over to a soup bar over the winter period to diversify social class.

MATERIAL

The materiality of the structure is that of a hybrid where plantation and timber form a mutual relationship that strengthens over time. The idea is to to provide a softener to the hard urban environment surrounding it and furthermore as a bio-inspiration for the cooks that use the facilities.

INTERVENTION

A sereis axonometrics that collectively show the construction of my proposal to Batavia Road. The road is designed mainly as a pedestrian's space, aiming to generate some public flow, thus act as a "natural surveillance" that the street seems to need.

Architecture should fulfill the needs of what is lacking in society, and the task should be tackled in a fruitful, green, and RENEWABLE way.
