THE DEPTFORD LIDO

I believe through my Deptford Lido I have found my own core of reflection and substance that I always anticipated to engage. Through the mere design of a stud, something so small and insignificant to an infrastructure I have managed to engage my own brief. A bried that in its absoluteness would be a drop in the ocean of my place in architecture. Taking forever the confounded ability that my own architectural beauty has a place in each of our own urban contexts.

INTERACTION

The Deptford Lido. A place to relax, reflect, be serene, forget, bathe, enwrap with nature and understand the beauty and layers that underly the urban context around us. Layering the Lido amongst us all would be something we could in turn engage with, take our own situations and make them beautiful. But of course the stud would be the key purified design. Moulding the layers around the social context of Deptford would be a challenge but by the casting of a Lido would be the achievement. The stud woudl align with the heart of vision and explore all angles of function. Usign the carefully placed studs they would direct movement, take you on a journey that would expand into the social context of Deptford itself.

MATERIAL

The outer surface and functionality of my design is focused primarily on the architectural quality of my stud. A totally unique material design that layers and accentuates beauty to the detail and view of the Deptford Lido. Positioned as an outer layer of materiality they will use three primary materials of copper, aluminium and timber. Each one designed to reflect literally and conceptually the representation of space around. The exterior stud will mature with age through weathering and history, drawing the viewer to engage with curvature and creation.

BRIEF

A form of pure water. Pure water of a beautiful form.

To establish a mould in which society feels the desire to become a piece within water. The cast of water that folds and encases each of our bodies when positioned within it. My expectation is to bring to the surface a place and condition where people can feel the cleanliness of beauty again. Where the angles and movement of a structure can imprint into our mind and soul how beauty is always among us no matter how deep or delicate .

The mould that encloses the inhabitants of Deptford will evolve a creative curvature around the setting that I create. An unspoiled line of beauty forms a natural pond underworld that can stretch through our imagination and seep into each crack of the situation that my design will entail.

I will position within Deptford an area in which the community can enwrap their own alluring forms unto society. An outdoor enclosure that will allow each and every one of us to explore our own individual beauty and transfer this condition out into the streets of Deptford.
